IOSH Managing Safely for Construction Managers

The course lasts for 4 days.

Minimum and maximum class numbers
Classes can vary from 8 – 20 learners.

Participants will be awarded a nationally recognised “IOSH Managing Safely” certificate of training upon successful completion of the course.

Duration of certificate
Generally recommended every three years.

None Required

Training can take place at the client’s premises or at Safety Solutions Training facility if preferred.

Day 1

  • Introduction
  • Construction Regulations 2006
  • Duties of the Designer
  • Duties of the Client
  • Duties of PSDP
  • Duties of PSCS
  • Duties of the Contractor
  • Documentation – Preliminary Health and Safety Plan, Construction Stage Health and Safety Plan, Site Safety File, Method Statement & Safe System of Work Plans (SSWP’s)

Day 2

  • Plant & Machinery – Work Equipment, Lifting Equipment, & Hand Signals – Certification and Completion of Statuary Examinations and Inspections.
  • Working at Heights including Scaffolding and Ladders
  • Underground Services, Excavations and Overhead Lines
  • Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadwork’s & Site Traffic Management
  • Confined Spaces & Explosive Atmospheres
  • Permit to Work Systems

Day 3

  • Safety Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 – Various Duties Safety Statement
  • Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 – Signage/Vibration/Noise/First Aid/PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Ergonomics/Manual Handling
  • Abrasive Wheels
  • Fire Safety
  • Hazardous Substances
  • Psychosocial Hazards – Bullying and Stress
  • Risk Assessment

Day 4

  • Presentation of Project
  • Active & Reactive Monitoring – Site Auditing
  • Accidents and Incidents/Dangerous Occurrences Investigation and Recording, Statuary Reporting.
  • Asbestos Safety
  • Safety Management Systems – Safe -T- Cert & OSHAS 18001, ISO 9001 and 14001
  • Final Exam
