CSCS Level One Basic Scaffolding


Basic scaffolding training is relevant to persons wishing to erect proprietary/system scaffolding incorporating loading bays up to 7 metres in height as well as operations not requiring advanced scaffolding training. 


To provide and ensure that attendees have the required skills to safely and efficiently erect scaffolding within the limits of the course as detailed in the applicable code of practice (2018) 

To confirm that these skills meet the relevant standards. 

Who should attend/Pre-Requisites  

Candidates over 16 years of age in receipt of current Safe Pass Card and Manual Handling Training. 

Irish PPSN.

Good understanding of written and spoken English (if not a SOLAS approved interpreter will be required) 

At least nine months experience within the last two years working as a trainee basic scaffolder (Evidence of prior learning will be required)

Health and fitness declaration to be completed. 

This course is aimed at operatives who do not currently have a CSCS card in this area.

  • Hazards associated with the erection and dismantling of scaffolding 
  • Inspection and selection of components used in scaffolding 
  • Correct insertion and positioning of scaffolding components for a variety of scaffolding tasks 
  • Interpretation of scaffolding drawings 
  • Quantifying materials and components required for scaffolding tasks. 
  • Correct use of ropes and knots when setting up and securing ladders and loads 
  • Effects of weather conditions and proximity hazards
