Confined Space Entry (Low & Medium Risk)

Suitable for: 

All personnel who have to enter Low and Medium Risk Confined Spaces and act as a Top Man/Person (Safety Attendant).

  • Our training facility in Blanchardstown (Maximum of 10 candidates per course)
  • Suitable training facility at your premises (Maximum of 10 candidates per course)


Course Aim:

This course is designed to ensure that delegates understand the legal requirements associated with low/medium risk confined space entry. The training will include the practical skills to apply safe systems of work and will cover the competent use of appropriate equipment for safe entry and operations in these environments. The use of extensive confined space simulations will allow the delegates achieve the learning outcomes in a safe realistic environment.

This Confined Space Entry Course includes the use of 15 minutes of Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus (Escape Set) but DOES NOT qualify personnel in the use of full breathing apparatus. Please see our High Risk Entry Course for full BA use.


Course Content:      
  • Identification of confined space work activity and the associated hazards
  • Confined Space Regulations 2001
  • Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
  • The importance of Plant Isolation and Zero Mechanical State
  • Ventilation Techniques and the management of unsafe atmospheres
  • Atmospheric Monitoring equipment and procedures
  • The use of Escape Breathing Apparatus
  • The use of Tripods and Man Riding Winches
  • The use of Safety Harnesses
  • Communication and Entry procedures
  • The role of the Safety Attendant and Entrant
  • The interpretation of Confined Space Entry Permits
  • The implementation of Emergency Plans
  • Practical Exercises



All candidates who successfully complete the course will receive a Safety Solutions certificate for Confined Space Entry (Low & Medium Risk) & Top Person Course and a photo site card, valid for three years.


Please Note: Due to the level of realism provided and practical aspects of the training appropriate PPE is necessary for learners to operate comfortably in the unit. (Hard Hat; Protected Toe-cap Shoes/Boots; Safety Gloves; Loose Fitting Top & Trousers)
