Manual Handling Training

Suitable for;

Subject to Section 19 (Risk Assessment) of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 and Chapter 4 (Manual Handling) of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work General Applications 2007 any persons who, as part of their routine activities or as part of their job, has to carry, lift, pull or push loads are required to undergo formal Manual Handling training.

Duration of training

The course lasts for approximately 3  hours depending on class sizes.

Minimum and maximum class numbers
Classes can vary from 4 – 12 learners

Participants will be awarded a Safety Solutions Certificate on completion.

Duration of certificate
Generally recommended every three years or unless there has been a major change to the employees duties that requires additional manual handling.

Training can take place at the Safety Solutions Training facility or at client’s premises



This course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge to conduct manual handling activities in a safe manner that will help prevent injury and ensures that learners understand the legal requirements associated with Manual Handling. The training will include practical skills to perform correct lifting techniques.  Learners will also understand the limitations and mechanics of the spine and muscular system and realise the consequences of incorrect carrying, lifting, pulling and pushing.
